Be sure to carry plenty of drinking water (especially in the summer).
Wear appropriate footwear (at least sneakers).
Take a cane for climbing safety (and to keep away the vipers).
Avoid hiking after 3 p.m. Sundown is early and trails are too dark to see.
Check the ropeway schedule. It's a 30 min. hike between Shishiiwa Station and the summit. Be sure to check for cancellations due to weather conditions.
Beware of mamushi (vipers) and hornets. Call 119 if you are bitten or stung.
Trails are very slippery after the rain. Avoid falling. (If you do fall, be sure to land on your bottom, not on your hands.)
